Human Factor vs Artificial Intelligence: Student Debate Held at the University

On November 20, 2025, Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz hosted a student debate titled “Human Factor vs Artificial Intelligence: Who Will Win on the Labor Market?” The event was organized as part of the preparation for the University Career Festival.

Active and motivated students took part in the debate, engaging in a discussion about key questions of the future:

  • Will the human role remain essential in professional activities?
  • Or will artificial intelligence become the main competitor?

During the debate, participants analyzed the impact of AI on various fields — education, management, public services, creative industries, and the public sector. They also highlighted the importance of uniquely human competencies such as critical thinking, emotional intelligence, ethics, adaptability, and communication.

The jury highly evaluated the students’ preparation, argumentation skills, and the culture of academic debate. The winners will be awarded at the Career Festival on December 3.

The event contributed to the development of students’ analytical abilities, public speaking skills, and professional awareness, demonstrating that the labor market of the future will be shaped by the synergy between technology and human competencies.

The 18th International Subject Olympiad was held at Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, bringing together more than 25 teams from 13 educational institutions of Kazakhstan, Russia, and CIS countries. The event united students from leading universities, colleges, and secondary schools. The main goal of the Olympiad was to identify talented youth, develop their analytical skills, and strengthen international cooperation in the training of modern economists and finance specialists.

The Olympiad was organized by the faculty members of the Department of Finance, led by Doctor of Economics, Professor L.A. Talimova.

The competition program was conducted in a team-based format and included participants from Kuban State Agrarian University named after I.T. Trubilin, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Kazan Cooperative Institute, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and other major educational centers. Participants demonstrated a high level of professional knowledge by solving current financial and economic case studies.

The geography of the Olympiad covered cities from Moscow to Atyrau and Karaganda, confirming the high international status and professional significance of the event.

According to the results, first place and the Grand Prix were awarded to the team of Gymnasium No. 1 of Karaganda. Second place was shared by Kuban State Agrarian University, Turan University, and the first team of Karaganda Banking College. Third place was taken by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazan Cooperative Institute, and the College of Economics, Business and Law.

 All prize winners received trophies and honorary diplomas.

After the Olympiad, colleagues and participants from different countries sent numerous positive feedback messages, noting the high level of organization, the strong academic content of the competition, and the professionalism of the organizing team. Judicial Reform Through the Eyes of an Expert

On November 7, 2025, within the framework of the Research and Educational Cluster, a guest lecture titled “Civil Procedure of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Current State and Development Directions” was held at Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz.

The invited speaker was Gulmira Tuleubaevna Buyevaeva, Chair of the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of the Karaganda Region.

The lecture addressed key aspects of judicial reform and digitalization of court proceedings, including the introduction of electronic document management, online hearings, automated systems, and prospects for further development of digital technologies in the legal field.

Particular attention was paid to enhancing the effectiveness of judicial protection of citizens’ and legal entities’ rights and to the latest trends in civil procedural legislation.

For students of the “Jurisprudence” and “Judicial and Law Enforcement Activities” programs, the meeting provided valuable practical insights. They discussed the use of digital solutions in the judiciary and their impact on accessibility and transparency of justice.

Such events strengthen the cooperation between the university and judicial institutions while helping students develop professional competencies and understand the evolving role of legal professionals in the era of digital transformation.

On November 5, 2025, Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz hosted a seminar-training titled “Gamification of the University Educational Process”, conducted by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, Pedagogy, and Social Work — S.K. Kenzhebayeva.

The event was held within the framework of the School of Pedagogical Excellence and aimed at developing the professional competencies of young teachers of the university and college.

During the training, participants discussed the possibilities of using gamification as an effective tool to enhance students’ motivation and engagement in the learning process. Particular attention was given to the following topics:

  • Integration of game elements into the curricula of various disciplines;
  • Creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and teamwork;
  • Practical examples of successful gamification in higher education.

The practical part of the seminar included the development of original game elements and interactive tasks that teachers can adapt to the specifics of their disciplines. Participants exchanged ideas on creating educational games and tools that foster students’ interest and active participation.

The seminar became an important step toward implementing innovative approaches in the educational process. The acquired knowledge and practical skills will enable young teachers to improve the quality of teaching and make the learning process more dynamic and effective.

A meeting between students and the Head of the Department of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs for the Karaganda Region, Zhandos Sheryalyuly Sarsen, took place at the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz.
The event, held on October 30, 2025, aimed to shape students’ understanding of the mission and values of the civil service, emphasizing the principles of integrity, responsibility, and service to society.

Zhandos Sarsen Sheryalyuly spoke about modern approaches to civil service, career opportunities, and the requirements for candidates. He placed special emphasis on the ideology of Law and Order, identified by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as a key direction of state policy.

The meeting continued with a presentation by Sergey Viktorovich Fedotov, Head of the University’s Anti-Corruption Compliance Service, who shared information about the department’s activities in strengthening academic integrity, preventing corruption risks, and fostering an ethical culture within the university.

At the end of the meeting, an open dialogue took place with the students. The participants emphasized the importance of honest learning, adherence to laws, and personal responsibility as the foundation for future professional success.

At the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, meetings were held between graduates and representatives of government bodies in the economic sector.
On October 29, 2025, graduates met with representatives of the Department of State Revenues for the Karaganda Region, and on November 3, 2025, with representatives of the Department of Economic Investigations.
During the meetings, participants discussed issues of state tax policy, financial control, anti-corruption measures, and career opportunities for young professionals.
Representatives of the departments spoke about the specifics of their work, qualification requirements, recruitment procedures, and prospects for professional growth in the public service system.
Graduates showed great interest in public service, asking questions about internships and selection processes. Such meetings contribute to students’ conscious career choices, strengthen cooperation between the university and government institutions, and promote partnerships in training specialists for the regional economy.

The “Forum of Young Researchers – 2025” was held on October 30 and brought together over 50 students who presented their research projects in three thematic areas:

  • Sustainable Development and Digital Economy: Challenges and Opportunities;
  • Marketing and Logistics in the Digital Era: Integrated Solutions and Innovations;

It is aimed at forming and improving professional competencies, developing pedagogical reflection, and mastering modern educational technologies within the university's activities.
The goal of the School is to enhance pedagogical competencies, share experiences, and support early-career teachers in their scientific, methodological, and educational activities.
As part of the School's work, practice-oriented seminars were conducted:
On October 20, 2025, a practical seminar "The Use of Electronic Information and Library Resources in Educational and Research Activities" was held (led by Y.A. Stavbunik, Director of the ATSZOUiBT).
On October 22, 2025, a practical seminar "Preparing a Grant Funding Application" took place (led by T.A. Khanov, Director of the NII EPI).
These events contributed to increasing the level of professional competence of young teachers, expanding their knowledge of modern tools for scientific and educational activities, as well as developing skills for effective participation in grant funding competitions and the implementation of research projects.

Educational Course on Tax ReformAs part of the university’s mission to train competitive professionals for the sustainable development of the region, the Department of Finance of the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz organized an educational course on October 20–21, 2025, titled “Taxation of Individuals and Legal Entities in the Context of the Tax System Reform of the Republic of Kazakhstan – 2026.”

The event was dedicated to the key changes in the new Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will come into effect on January 1, 2026.

The course brought together tax consultants, representatives of professional associations, and business community members. Participants — including faculty, students, and doctoral candidates — discussed issues related to the reform of individual and corporate income taxes, property and transport taxation, special tax regimes, and the digitalization of tax administration.

The educational course contributed to fostering a responsible tax culture, improving legal literacy, and enhancing the professional competencies of future economists and financial specialists.

On October 18, Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Spiritual Consent. This date has been observed since 1992, when the first World Congress of Spiritual Consent was held in the country. The Day of Spiritual Consent symbolizes society's aspiration for harmony, mutual understanding, and respect for various cultures and religions. In today’s world, where maintaining unity and peace is especially important, this day serves as a reminder of the need for tolerance and cooperation among people of different faiths and beliefs.

In honor of this occasion, our university held a round table on the topic: “Interfaith Dialogue — The Spiritual Foundation of Unity and Stability in Kazakhstani Society.”

The round table brought together representatives of various faiths, government bodies, and the academic community:

  • Sherzod Abbozovich Pulatov — Chairman of the Republican Council of Ethnomediation of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK), Chairman of the Uzbek Ethnocultural Center in Astana, member of the National Kurultai under the President of Kazakhstan, member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, SCO People’s Diplomat, professional trainer-mediator, doctoral student at the Department of APK, Faculty of International Relations, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
  • Alexander Nikolaevich Ugolkov — Archpriest, Rector of the St. Nicholas Church in Aktas village, Karaganda and Shakhtinsk Diocese.
  • Daniyar Erikuly Kemerbayev — Deputy Imam of the Karaganda Regional Mosque "Anet Baba," responsible specialist of the Department for Prevention and Rehabilitation from Foreign Religious Sects in Karaganda Region.
  • Gulnar Amirbaykyzy Zhanysbekova — Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the "Personal Development and APK" Center, South Kazakhstan Research University named after M.O. Auezov, Shymkent city.
  • Sultan Amanboldyuly Rymkulov — Head of the Rehabilitation Department of the Department of Religious Affairs of Karaganda Region.
  • Ayaulym Kurmangaliqyzy Myngbayeva — Master’s student in the "Standardization and Certification" educational program.
  • Tomiris Amangeldievna Sagimbayeva — Student in the "Food Products Technology" educational program.

The round table was moderated by Almas Sabitovich Orynbekov, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Youth Policy, and Madina Borambaevna Alpysbayeva, Head of the Department of “Social and Political Disciplines and Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan,” PhD, Associate Professor.

Participants discussed key issues related to the role of traditional religions in society and the importance of interfaith dialogue for strengthening unity and preventing spiritual contradictions in Kazakhstan.

The International Programmes and Projects Centre announces the opening of applications for student mobility under the Erasmus+ programme at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (Sofia, Bulgaria).

The competitive selection is carried out by Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz in accordance with the criteria established by the Erasmus+ programme and Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.

The main selection criteria are high academic performance and knowledge of English at a level not lower than B2.

Students who have studied for at least two semesters at their home university are eligible to participate in the competition.
